Our Work & Mission
We provide assistance for a variety of writing projects including essays, research papers, lab reports, resumes, application essays, and more. Our activities include but are not limited to collaboration with the Dialogue program, drop-in conferencing in our center, conferencing with the COMPASS program, writing partnerships, conferencing with English language learners, assessment of writing in Dialogue 1, conducting the Hibbard School Supplies Drive and HERO program, and participation in the Chicagoland and Midwest Writing Centers Associations.
Writing Advisors are available to work with any undergraduate student on any papers (except when the teacher specifies that there should be no outside help on an assignment), in any subject, at any stage of the process. You're welcome to make an appointment in advance, in order to reserve a particular time slot (sign up on the list posted outside the Writing Center door), or to simply drop by when we're open.
The North Park University Writing Center is a proud part of North Park's academic body, working alongside students and faculty to plant and cultivate a thriving writing culture among all members of the North Park community. We provide a safe and respectful space, promoting especially healthy, coordinated habits of learning and writing processes.
Our one-on-one conferencing respects the intellectual work and linguistic roots of all individuals. We aim to support and encourage the pedagogical model of the North Park Dialogue program by practicing collaboration in investigative, integrated learning habits which promote cognitive, affective, and psychomotor development.
